Being a Certified Cost Professional (CCP) requires the following qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience in a comparable field, or 4 years plus 4 years of experience in a similar field of higher education
  • Adherence to AACE's Canons of Ethics Completed technical paper with a minimum word count of 2,500
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • You must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • You need to have professional experience in cost engineering, cost estimating, or project controls. The exact number of years of experience required can vary based on your educational background:
    1.If you have a bachelor's degree, you typically need a minimum of 6 years of professional experience.
    2.If you have an associate degree or no degree, you may need additional years of experience.
  • A portion of your professional experience should be in roles related to cost engineering, cost estimating, or project controls.
Application and Documentation:
  • You will need to complete the CCP certification application through AACE International's website.
  • Submit all required documentation, including transcripts, work experience details, and references.
Passing the CCP Certification Exam:
  • Once your application is approved, you will be eligible to sit for the CCP certification exam.
  • The CCP exam assesses your knowledge in various areas of cost engineering and project management, including cost estimating, cost control, project management, and more.
  • You must pass the exam to earn the CCP designation.
Maintaining Certification:
  • To maintain your CCP certification, you will need to meet continuing education requirements and pay annual dues to AACE International.
